Richard Williams supported me over a 6-month period on a LEAP (Local Enterprise Apprenticeship Platform) programme, steering me through the complex process of creating a business plan and setting up a new business as a sole trader. One of the lovely things about Richard is that he brings alive a process, which in previous experience, has been rather dry in other people’s hands. I looked forward to our meetings very much and came out of them feeling positive and focussed. I was lucky enough to have Richard as my business mentor throughout the LEAP programme in 2020, where he guided me in writing my business proposal and pitch for my floristry business. It was with his expertise and encouragement that I won the competition – which, until I met Richard, I didn’t have the self-belief that I could! He made me feel at ease (no question too silly!) and really helped me to focus on my goals and time management. Richard took what seemed like a very scary process and helped me to break it down into manageable pieces, which made everything so much easier. He is a fantastic listener, and not only took time to understand my business and ambitions for the future but understood that behind setting it up, I also have a family life to juggle and he has always offered wonderful advice about getting the balance right. Richard and I still speak often and I know I will always turn to him for advice as my business evolves. I would recommend him to anyone looking for guidance and mentorship for their business.
